History:
Iron Ethel Flint was born into a small community of miners who, as a joke, thought it would be funny to name the next child born on a mining day after the metal they were mining.
Thus, the name Iron comes along. Yes, Iron’s name was the result of a practical joke.
Born on the eve of a mining expidition that went horribly wrong, the little girl lost her father the day after. His, though, in good humor, last words were, “Tell the kid I’m sorry about the name.”
Her mother remarried almost immedietly, to a wealthy doctor named Ammedis Flint, who taught her all about the tonics and medicines he made for a living. What Iron didn’t understand, though, was why they had to put so many chemicals in them.
So, being the haughty and curious girl that she was, she set off to find out how she could possibly make the medicines and tonics without all of the ickiness. She found Gahir, an apothecary from the south of her home.
He had a horse and two hounds who sniffed out the plants he needed to make his tonics with. He taught her everything he knew and entrusted one of his loyal hounds to her after her training was completed. His name was Sir, and he accompanied her until the day he died.
After Sir died, Iron decided to make a living by finding her own plants and selling them to wealthy apothecaries. This turned out to be quite a mistake, as an apothecary advised her to travel into a frightfully thick forest to find a teardrop daisy, one of the rarest plants in existence, for it’s nectar.
And now, she’s stuck.
