History: Born and raised on his father's farms in Exodus, the man died young, leaving George a lot of land and premature knowledge of how to take care of it. His uncle raised George like a step father, even becoming involved with George's mother briefly though the young man never knew this, nor that their falling out was why his beloved uncle left Exodus. Nevertheless the man gave him the working knowledge he needed to bring his inherited lands back.
When he was 22 his mother arranged for his marriage with the daughter of her childhood friend. George adored her, and she took good care of him and theirs has been a happy relationship, even though they were better friends than romantics. Even still, they had three children together, and a brief period of absolute joy.
The last five years, though, the farm has begun to fail, the land no longer producing the healthful crops George needs to sell to support his family. To make matters worse, his wife has become ill, unable to help as she had with the livestock, and barely able to upkeep the house for him and her children anymore. Becoming more desperate, George sold several pieces of furniture to hire a mage to look at the soil, with the conclusion that the sun's properties that had been infused into the soil were dissipating.
Devastated, George had no idea what to do until his youngest brought him a shiny rock to try to help him feel better. It was warm to the touch and never became cool. He realized the sun magic in the soil was turning into a soft metallic substance rather than remaining diffused in the nutrients, but talking to his neighbors none of them had a similar issue. Still, he needs to feed his family, and with no crops to show for the year, he sees only one option to get finances before the winter sets in.
